What is NAUCAM EXPERIENCE

NAUCAMEXPERIENCE is a business cooperation initiative in the field of nautical tourism, bringing together almost a hundred entrepreneurs in the sector (based in the Canary Islands -Spain-, Agadir -Morocco-, the Azores and Madeira -Portugal-, Cape Verde and Mauritania).

This project has been made possible thanks to European Union funding (ERDF), through three projects;

1) NAUCAM “Canary Islands-Morocco Nautical Cooperation Network” (www.naucam.com), 2) NAUCAMNET “Integrated Sustainability of Nautical Cooperation between the Canary Islands and the Souss Massa Drâa Region” (http://naucamnet.com/), both co-financed at 75% through the POCTEFEX Operational Programme, and 3) NAUTICOM “Nautical Cooperation Network in the Macaronesia: Promoting the internationalization, tourism competitiveness and blue growth of the Macro Region”, funded at 85% by the First Call of the MAC 2014-2020 Programme.

During the NAUCAM project it was identified the willingness and desire of the Canarian entrepreneurs of nautical tourism to internationalise their products and services towards African ports, and to carry out joint activities that guarantee the viability of these relations and the joint development of the tourist offer. The  Canarian entrepreneurs have seen in Moroccan ports  an opportunity for diversification and innovation. The benefits of these relations are mutual, since the development of the nautical sector in Morocco, still considered to be incipient by the Moroccan authorities themselves in the Vision 2020 Plan of the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts, would be greatly enhanced and benefited if it is accompanied by the experience of more than 20 years of Canarian entrepreneurs in the sector.

Similarly, Cape Verde and the Portuguese islands of Azores and Madeira, which have the same natural and geographical potential as the Canary Islands, have also recognised the need to qualify and expand their tourist offer in the maritime environment, due to the economic opportunities that the nautical torism sector offers. In this context, consolidating a joint nautical-tourist offer in the Macaronesia, and with stopover trajectories between Morocco and Cape Verde, broadens the spectrum of opportunities for new tourist markets,, while providing an important boost for the desired positioning of all these nautical destinations that share the Atlantic. Furthermore, geographical proximity, equal conditions (in terms of insularity and vulnerability), and the accumulated experience of some entrepreneurs throughout the Macro Region, will make it possible to make good practices available to everyone, for mutual development and growth.

Therefore, NAUCAMEXPERIENCE intends to position itself as an umbrella of the Atlantic, a brand image that is a faithful reflection of the good practices and synergies between the entrepreneurs of the MACaronesia and Africa, in the search for environmental sustainability, nautical safety, coopetition, and quality of services. This online platform brings together all the nautical tourism companies that constitute the Naucam Network, which has subsequently been named Red Nauticom. Essentially, it centralizes the information of all the marinas of the MacroRegion, as well as promotes transnational activities and services, which are result of the own initiatives of the Network’s  entrepreneurs.
